Angelus Apatrida - "The Call"

Century Media (2012)

You have got to love the thrash revival. Warbringer, Conspiracy, Suicidal Angels and many more reinforce the conviction I adopted in the late 80s and early 90s that thrash mixed with melodic heavy metal is just about the best metal has to offer. To me it is extremely important that such bands would be highly skilled in both musicianship and songwriting.

And Angelus Apatrida is such a band and more. Just listen to Slayerish "Hope Is Gone", probably the best track on the album, to see what I'm talking about. Riffs, melody and solos galore, "The Call" also kills with a superb production where drums, bass and razor-sharp guitars pulverize you into your seat. If you like Kreator, Megadeth, Metallica and Slayer with plenty of melody and top shelf songwriting stop reading this and stampede to your nearest music store and pray to whatever god you worship that there's still one copy left unsold.
