Million Dollar Reload - "A Sinner’s Saint"

Frontiers Records (2012)

Northern Ireland’s Million Dollar Reload play a down and dirty brand of bar infused hard rock- the type where the amps crank to eleven, bluesy chord progressions prevail and the singer slithers in and out with an AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Thunder swagger. “A Sinner’s Saint” for a second album contains 11 anthems that gravitate between the 70’s and 80’s sound, thick three chord strains and four on the floor rhythm parts which keep the energy level on high voltage mode.

Some of the chorus work on “Can’t Tie Me Down” gets too repetitive for its own good, and the string section touches for the power ballad “Broken” make it an obvious future tear-jerker in the Million Dollar Reload set list. Overall though, the quintet isn’t re-writing the classic hard rock textbook with this release- so don’t expect many surprises as it’s average at best in terms of hooks, melodies and execution.

Try again next time.
