The band photo is from Obliteration’s MySpace site. Imhotep mastermind Matt Coe wrote on the new album “ “Insomnia” has legs simply because they may take the history of progressive rock and metal into account, yet creatively craft some of the most original and innovative music the world needs to hear.” He got hold of Bill Berends, the band’s mastermind, to discuss the new album, the music industry and how the internet seems to dissolve people’s hunger for really digging into the music they listen to. When this band took alternate routes some ten years ago, Imhotep reporter Roy Kristensen didn’t really pay attention. But now, with the new album he felt it was time to reinvent their friendship. Niklas Sundin replied to the questionnaire, dealing with the band’s history, with the lyrics and obviously the music. This band meant a lot to me, and I found it to be the leader of its genre at the time. The brilliant songstructures combined with the finest precision did always impressed me. I interviewed Niklas for Imhotep #1. However, this lengthy monster you’re about to read was published in Imhotep #4 (1998) and poor Niklas had to reply to questions about this, that and whatnot.

Kiss the Apocalips. We’ve listed ca. 10 albums, where only the three first are pointed out. As you can see, our staff have a wide selection of albums, which album means we have a wide taste. However, Imhotep is mostly related to metal and some rock, and I guess that’s where we’ll stay also in the future.
You can comment on this list, and perhaps make your own top-3 for 2009.
You may wonder what’s in store for Imhotep. Well, in 2010 (as soon as possible into the New Year) you can comment on every single article, review or interview posted on Imhotep, just as in Blabbermouth. Perhaps this’ll help us to improve even further. See you in the next year and let’s hope there’s more quality music coming from the minds of all these musicians in our world. We’ll be there, steady and trustworthy as always!
Cheers! from the Imhotep staff! Two years ago Roy Kristensen felt the need to have some of his writings in print again. He printed the two limited issues of Destroyer Of Worlds. Some of these articles have later on been published on the Imhotep website, but here you can download the whole first issue and read it in its complete form, with the real layout.
This is best read in printed version. The files you download are .pdf files.
There is no copyright on this, and if you feel like using the stuff in there, go ahead.
Featured bands; Watain, Abigor, Blacklodge, Plutonium, Church Bizarre and more... Don’t you just love the smell of flowers? Perhaps a bottle of red wine? And a good conversation about the future and the kids you’ll have and all that jazz, with your beautiful girlfriend?
Well then, why don’t you just as well fuck off! This is hate, pain and sheer brutality for those of us who enjoy the darker side of life. V666 replied to Imhotep’s questions, deliberately under the influence of the horned one!
Imhotep’s Paul Kearns and Roy Kristensen hooked up with Steven Wilson, frontman in the respected band Porcupine Tree, to discuss the band’s growth, how to listen to music and how to write a 55 minutes track.
