Pagan Records (2012)
The third full length from Poland’s Furia serves up three quarters of an hour of black metal with a decided ‘depressive’ tint. Typically for this type of offering we have vocals screamed from a cavern below, hypnotic and repetitive riffs and a plaintive atmosphere of dreary despair. Furia are most effective in the faster sections where long guitar phrases mean the music keeps that ‘lost but searching’ vibe.
The atmosphere is a solid fog that creates the intended mood. There aren’t many vocals, but as they are in Polish they could be about the price of underwear for all I know. (I’m not saying that Polish bands like to sing about underwear by the way!!!)
Overall this is pretty competent, although you’ve probably heard it all before and possibly done better.
