Despise the Sun Records (2011)
This compilation brings together material from the dozen or so years Grave Desecrator have been at large. Firstly we have demo tracks, then rehearsal stuff, 5 previously unreleased live cuts, a cover of Bathory’s “Sacrifice” (always a good inclusion!) and a new track by the latest incarnation of the band.
Those unfamiliar with the band should expect messy black/death thrash with the emphasis on exuberant pummeling and a dirty retro vibe. Grave Desecrator don’t shock with their level of innovation, but for those with a penchant for South American death, this disc has over an hour of material to keep you happy.
The final track is the newest and weakest offering, so I won’t be holding my breath for the next release, but there is still plenty to enjoy here.
