Thy Darkened Shade - "Eternvs Mos, Nex Ritvs"

Self-released? (2012)

Yet another black metal band. Where do they all come from? And does this band have what it takes to step out of the crowd? Sadly, no. Which doesn't mean that this album is bad or anything. It's just that there's nothing special about it.

You get your dose of fast black metal. The sound is levelled. The vocals are grim. But the music is simply too straight-forward to step out of the ordinary. Sadly, despite the downloading business, it doesn't help with a very good looking booklet. After all, you can't really listen to the booklet, now can you?

"Eternvs Mos…" is by all means a well done black metal release with the familiar ingredients. But it's not dark enough for those who prefer darkness, it's not technical enough for those who prefer technicality, it's not melodic enough for those who prefer melodies and it's not original enough for those who desire innovation in music. Thy Darkened Shade has a few good ideas, such as the latter part of "To Suffer The Perpetual Curses", but a few good ones do not make a full album.

RE:Thy Darkened Shade -
I bought the cd from W.T.C a couple of weeks ago. I must say that I found the album to be a really good release and not a mediocre one as the review implies. It is technical, avant-garde and thrashy at the same time, something that has not be done by others in that way before. However, this is a matter of opinions but I should say that the album is not self-released. There is a logo of W.T.C exactly on the cover posted here and at the backside of the album's slip case, etc. Please, when you review an album take the time that it demands, do not be inaccurate.

RE:Thy Darkened Shade -
You're defintitely right about being accurate. However, on the cover of the CD I got there's not WTC print and I only got the booklet, not the backcover. And the cover posted here..., well, I must admit that I didn't see the WTC here and thought it was a part of the cover itself, ha ha... My bad, because I should've double-checked! Glad you like it (the album that is), because it's not bad. It's just too generic to these ears...
