Nuclear Blast (2012)
The AC/DC of German thrash, noted beer aficionados Tankard pump out no nonsense material that won’t change your mind much about their brand on “A Girl Called Cerveza”. You need a sense of humor to fully appreciate “Son Of A Fridge”, “Metal Magnolia” and the galloping title track. Almost in a fairy tale motif, guest vocalist Doro Pesch joins Tankard for the adventurous “The Metal Lady Boy”- as Gerre offers a big bad wolf contrast to her fierce melodic delivery.
Taken in small doses, Tankard is a fun loving, down to earth thrash band. Probably a release more for the long time followers- as I would handle this act best in a 30 minute festival slot while the sun beats down on the tens of thousands in attendance.
