Escape Music (2012)

Finnish melodic rock from the five piece Prayer and their latest album “Danger In The Dark”. Pluses include an infectious knack for the right hook from song to song and their harmonies within the guitar/ keyboard syncopation. Artists like Saga and Royal Hunt come to mind on “Nobody Loves You”, “Find Another Fool”, and the AOR friendly “I’m Back”. A major minus would be the lower production value in the drum department- and the older, crooning vocal style of Tapani Tikkanen- it’s too laid back and casual for the musical proceedings on display, almost like Bob Dylan fronting the band.

Prayer isn’t going to set the songwriting world on fire with this 10 song effort.
