Blodhemn - "Holmengraa"

Indie Recordings (2012)

“Holmengraa” is the first outing for Bergen’s Blodhemn. Main-man Invisus has created an accessible, modern BM record with an emphasis on crafting songs that can stand up on their own two feet, strong riffing and thrash influences. Don’t expect Deathspell Omega style impenetrability or innovation and don’t expect extreme harsh necro or dark and demented soundscapes and you should get on quite well with this album.

There isn’t too much else I can say about this album – it is fairly simple and straight up BM from the less brutal side of the abyss. No frills, trickery or keyboards. No major atmosphere, but a slight hint of melody that works well. Although this act don’t seem set to conquer the known universe, this is an enjoyable release and one that you’ll return to time and again.
