Spin Gallery - Embrace
Published: 2010.01.04

Frontiers (2010)

Second album from Swedish multi-instrumentalist Tommy Denander, singer Kristopher Lagerstrom and percussionist Glen Marks. 5 years beyond their debut, “Embrace” contains 12 songs of sensational pop/ melodic rock. “Just a Momentary Why” and “Eyes Wide Open” showcase a sound firmly in favor of West Coast AOR, with Lagerstrom recalling a controlled Jon Anderson from Yes. Tommy’s solo style is a virtually who’s who of classic AOR heroes, from Neal Schon to Steve Lukather.

I can even hear 80’s Peter Gabriel meets Yes in a faster effort like “You Do The Things You Do” - so understand that Spin Gallery do have their name sake in mind when creating their songs. “Embrace” embodies what even the hypercritical music fan desires in this genre- full on harmonies, memorable riffs and all of the links you could want to retain the material time after time.
